I’m going on month 7 in Alaska, and I wanted to share some phrases that are surefire ways to befriend the locals:
Wow, what an amazing combination of large mountains and ocean you have here
These mountains are much cooler than other mountains
The salmon here is so much better than other salmon
I am very impressed that you are not afraid of that moose
Where did you get this delicious meat? hunted it yourself with a blow dart? Incredible!
Your large truck seems to have no problem navigating the three feet of un-plowed snow on the road!
This early-season snow was worth every drop of rain that fell continuously all summer!
Honestly this darkness is totally fine now that I’m taking 8000 IU of vitamin D per day
I can’t imagine living in a place without mountains either
That guy wearing the “choose violence” T-shirt did not make me feel unsettled either
